This film is all about this girl called Nim. She lives on an island in the middle of nowhere with her father. That island is what they call home and no one else is allowed on it. Unfortunately her mother passed away when she was a baby. Nim has her friends to keep her safe and teach her about life. Her seal teaches her to swim. In return she teaches him football. She loves reading and her favourite character is Alex Rover. When she gets a flurry of emails from him, she is extremely excited. She has all these great adventures on her island. From walking down the beach with her father to saving her island. When her father leaves on a trip for four days and a cruise ship comes to make the island a holiday place, can Nim survive with all these people and no Dad to keep them off their precious island?
I think this film is great for all ages. It is especially good for a family. I loved the way that Nim has all these different friends of different species. The way that they help her out and teach her things like how to survive on an island or that no matter what size things are, they will fall at the same speed. I also like the way that she has all these ideas to get around places and how to have fun. However, on the less good side, some of the parts that I didn't really get or agree with are parts like, why would a father leave his child on an island on their own for four days. I get that Nim is about 11 but can she really cope? I mean, something really bad could happen. And what if the father dies while he is away?
I really enjoyed this film and love rewatching it. I love Nim as she is fun, adventurous and full of ideas. Alexander Rover is another great character. She hates the outside and would prefer to spend all her day indoors, writing the next Alex Rover book about this guy totally the opposite of Alexander Rover. When she has to travel halfway around the world to save a girl stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere, she isn't the happiest of people. And of course, you can't forget Nim’s friends. Fred is my favorite. I really enjoyed this film and would definitely recommend it.
